My name is Carolyn Boyd and I am a dog trainer, writer and mentor based in the far West of Cornwall. My life revolves around dogs and we have a super dog friendly holiday cottage that we welcome guests to all year round.
My background, or as I say my ‘previous life’ was in the fast-moving area of marketing and business development, as well as editing and writing. I have worked in many businesses from advertising agencies to accountancy firms.
In 2005 I moved from corporate to canine after a move to Cornwall and realised I had found my passion.
The transition to dog training made more sense than it sounds. I had moved from a life of problem-solving business growth and development to problem solving with client’s dogs. My background gives me some innovative tools and a refreshingly non-judgemental and practical approach to my client’s challenges.
The more I work with clients, the more I realise my role is bigger than 'dog trainer' as I delve deeper into the human end of the lead.
"We still have little challenges in big groups, but every day we understand one another better, and that’s thanks to you showing me how to put our puzzle pieces of training together, and learn to step in and advocate for him at times when he needs me most. He’s such an amazing, resilient and loving little monster, and understanding him has made me a way better human!"

That's all about me. How about you?
Dog training seems so complicated these days, doesn’t it? There are so many conflicting opinions to wade through on social media and tv shows.
Google your issue and you will get a whole heap of results … which one to pick?
Speak to your neighbours and your friends and you will get a lot of 'my dog' information ... is that right for YOUR dog?
This is so typical of clients that I see. Often these different sources conflict in their way of training and their attitude. You feel like you need to be doing something, and it can be hard to curate all that information to find out what is for the best.
Often people have attempted to train their dogs without any thought about the underlying issues causing frustration all round.
How confusing for you … how confusing for your dog.
My aim is to empower YOU to help your dog.
I inspire dog owners to build the best relationship with their dog through simple foundations and well-proven problem solving principles.
I offer guides and resources where you can step away from traditional dog training techniques and learn the common-sense and practical skills to succeed.
I focus on giving you the skills to make key adjustments in your behaviour, environment, and mindset. By understanding how your actions influence your dog, you’ll learn how to lead with calmness, giving your dog the confidence to mirror that composure.
Our relationship can also include interactive online training - live sessions where we review where you are, where you want to be, and how you get there.
More than anything, I help you build the best relationship with your dog.
And what could be better than that?
"Carolyn made everything make sense which helped our border collie have such a better life. She made us think differently and help with understanding how my border thinks. I thoroughly recommend Carolyn for her knowledge and commitment to getting it right for dog and owner. Very special lady who makes you realise how to think in a new way so your dog has the best life he can."
